Ashford Car Park
Ashford Car Park is situated at 24–28 Alexander Street, approximately 3km south-west of the Adelaide GPO. The modern facility comprises four levels and includes 788 car parking bays. Acquired in 2004, the property was developed for Adelaide’s Ashford Hospital, providing car parking facilities for staff and casual visitors. These upgrades extended to part of the underutilised land being used to construct a single storey station for SA Ambulance in 2006. As part of a Riverlee community initiative in 2019, South Australian artist Jack Fran transformed the exterior of the multi-storey car park into a soothing and tranquil piece of art named ‘Bird Park’. This project not only gave a personality to the building, but now welcomes hospital staff and visitors, while promoting art to the surrounding community.
